Introduction
Strong foundation
Steel is the first practical regulator-servicing level in our pathway. Building on Discover, it introduces disassembly, reassembly and calibration with the assistance of an experienced technician. The focus is on establishing a sound foundation and learning to carry out the work with guidance, before developing greater ease at Titanium level.
Prerequisites
Cressi Discover Tech certification required.
Mandatory pre-course online e-learning must be completed before attending. It introduces our technical vocabulary, tool names, schematics and other preparatory concepts, helping you understand the terminology and materials used during the course.
Minimum age: 18 years
Course duration: 1 day
Certification validity: 2 years
Course content
Theoretical session: Standards and procedures, lubricants, and tips and tricks.
Practical exercises:
- Disassembly
- Cleaning is covered through explanation only, not as a practical exercise.
- Reassembly
- Calibration
- Testing on the mobile test bench.
Equipment and specialties:
- Cleaning and maintenance refresher;
- at least 1 first-stage and
- at least 1 second-stage regulator model
- inflator
- submersible pressure gauge (SPG).
Assessment:
- At the end of the theoretical session, you must score above 80% in the final theory exam.
- You must also achieve at least 80% in the assessment conducted during the course.
Skills acquired by the end of the course
Able to disassemble, reassemble and calibrate a regulator with assistance from an experienced technician.
The expected outcome is assisted competence: you can participate in the servicing process while benefiting from an experienced technician's guidance. Steel establishes the practical foundation for the greater confidence and broader model coverage developed at Titanium.
Certification validity and renewal
Your certification is valid for 2 years. Complete a mandatory update course every 2 years, before your current certification expires, to keep your credentials active.
